Temple Run is an abstract animation about the rural and spiritual heart of Hong Kong. Utilising stop-motion photography, it explores the iconic visual aspects of the city’s temples and nunneries to celebrate Hong Kong’s cultural heritage. Everyday natural and artificial details are made focused, investigating each mundane yet essential building block of Hong Kong.

On a winter morning on the way to work, Kiyoung finds Gilho sleeping on the wooden bench in front of his house. Gilho is a teenager who has run away from home because he can no longer face the domestic violence he suffers there. Kiyoung lets Gilho stay in his house for a few days and Gilho comes to trust Kiyoung. However, as Gilho′s friends visit, conflicts happen between Kiyoung and Gilho.

Restricted from travel to Palestine, I learned auto-hypnosis for the purpose of bi-locating. What results is a journey, recorded on Super 8mm film, to the ruins of ancient civilizations embedded in modern civilization in ruins, to a site ruined beyond evidence of civilization. Deep Sleep is an invitation to move from the corporeal self to the cinema space in a collective act of bi-location that transcends the limits of geographical borders and plays with the fallibility of memory.
